A website has just revealed that the beloved manga The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch by Yōsuke Kaneda will be adapted into a television anime, scheduled to premiere in 2026. About the Story
The series follows Spica Virgo, a witch apprentice who struggles to use magic. She dreams of entering a prestigious magic school but lacks the resources. Her life changes when she encounters a mysterious black cat that can speak and wield magic. The cat, cursed and seeking to break free, forms a secret pact with Spica. Their journey involves mastering magic and unraveling the mystery behind the curse — with a kiss holding the key!
"Witch apprentice Spica Virgo can't use magic at all. To earn a place in the magic school she dreams of entering, she needs a mentor—but she has neither money nor connections. One day, a mysterious black cat who speaks and wields magic appears before her! Spica wants to master sorcery, and the black cat longs to break a curse. The pair's goals align. Manga Background
Kaneda's manga was first launched on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app in March 2022. The 12th volume is set to be published this Thursday. The manga is also available in English through K MANGA, which publishes it digitally and in print.
Kaneda is also known for Boarding School Juliet, which was serialized from 2015 to 2019 and received a nomination at the 41st Annual Kodansha Manga Awards.
Previous Anime Adaptation
