Exciting Cast Announced for the Upcoming Anime Film Hyakuemu
The staff behind the highly anticipated anime film Hyakuemu, based on Uoto's manga, has revealed a fresh lineup of cast members. The film, which had its world premiere at Annecy on June 12, is set to hit Japanese theaters on September 19, with North American screenings scheduled for October.

The newly announced voice actors bring a talented roster to the project. Here are the latest additions:
- Jun Kasama as Nigami, Togashi's teammate
- Rie Takahashi as Asakusa, a high school girl who invites Togashi to join the team
- Yuki Tanaka as Shiina, another high school team member
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Young Togashi in elementary school
- Aoi Yūki as Young Komiya in elementary school
- Yūma Uchida as Kabanoki, an aspiring world-class runner
- Junya Enoki as Numano, a high school team member during Komiya's school days
- Haruki Ishiya as Kyōden, the team captain in high school
- Hiiro Ishibashi as Morikawa, an athlete who admires Togashi
- Tomokazu Sugita as Onomichi

Film Details and Production
Directed by Kenji Iwaisawa (ON-GAKU: Our Sound), the film is produced by Rock 'n' Roll Mountain, Pony Canyon, TBS TV, and ASMIK Ace. The screenplay is written by Yasuyuki Mutō, with character design and animation direction by Keisuke Kojima. The music score is composed by Hiroaki Tsutsumi.
The story follows Togashi, a naturally gifted 100-meter runner, and his rival, Komiya, whose obsession with sprinting begins when they meet. The film explores themes of determination, rivalry, and self-discovery.
Background and Previous Works
Hyakuemu originated as a manga launched in 2018 on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app. Uoto's first series, it has published three volumes so far. The story was showcased at Annecy last year as part of the festival's Work in Progress lineup.
Kenji Iwaisawa previously directed ON-GAKU: Our Sound, which was adapted from Hiroyuki Ohashi's manga. That film premiered in Japan in 2020 and was later screened in North America by GKIDS.
