The highly anticipated film A New Dawn (Hana Rokushō ga Akeru Hi ni), the directorial debut of illustrator and director Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, has been postponed to 2026. The project was originally set for release this year. The announcement was made Tuesday on the film's official website.
Story Overview
The film's narrative unfolds at a 330-year-old fireworks factory facing forced eviction.
- Keitarō, who has been secluded in the factory for four years, works to complete the legendary "Shuhari" firework in place of his missing father.
- Kaoru, Keitarō's childhood friend, returns from Tokyo after an incident forced her to leave home.
- During their reunion, the pair embark on a journey to uncover the secret behind a forgotten firework.
- The film's title, “Hana Rokushō,” refers to the Paris Green pigment used historically in fireworks, and “Akeru” means “dawn” or “daybreak.”

- Eitaro Tatewaki: Voiced by Takashi Okabe, making his voice acting debut
