New Film Adaptation of 'Hadaashi no Gen' Announced
Exciting news for fans of Hiroshima's history and manga!
The satellite channels BS12 and TwellV have announced they are producing a film based on the 2024 documentary Hadaashi no Gen no Netsudendō Genbaku Manga o Tsutaeru Hitobito. The film, titled Hadaashi no Gen wa Mada Okotteiru (Barefoot Gen is Still Mad), is set to premiere in November at theaters including Tokyo's Pole Pole Higashinakano Theater and Hiroshima's Salon Cinema.

About the Documentary
The original documentary aired in September 2024 and focused on those who preserve and promote the legacy of Keiji Nakazawa's Barefoot Gen manga. Nakazawa, who survived the Hiroshima atomic bombing as a child, created the renowned manga depicting the horrors and aftermath of the atomic bomb.
The documentary received notable recognition, winning the Media Ambitious Award in 2024 and the Best Documentary award at the 15th Japan Satellite Broadcasting Association Award.
