Gōshō Aoyama and Masahiro Sakurai Honored with Art Encouragement Prizes
The Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs has awarded the prestigious Art Encouragement Prize to notable figures in the entertainment industry, including Gōshō Aoyama, the creator of Detective Conan, and Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros. series. This recognition was announced as part of the 75th annual awards ceremony by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Notable Winners in the Newcomer Category
In addition to Aoyama and Sakurai, Kiyotaka Oshiyama, director of the Look Back anime film, and Katsura Hashino, known for the Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona game series, received newcomer awards for their contributions to the field.
Awards Ceremony Details
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Tokyo on March 11. This event highlights the achievements of individuals whose work has made significant contributions to various media fields.
Legacy of Detective Conan
Gōshō Aoyama launched the Detective Conan (Case Closed) manga in 1994, which has since evolved into a long-running television anime starting in 1996 and an extensive film series. The upcoming film, Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback, will premiere in Japan on April 18.
New Anime Premieres
Additionally, a new television anime based on Aoyama's Yaiba manga is set to debut on April 5. This series will air before Detective Conan, establishing a special "Gōshō Aoyama Hour" block on Japanese television.
Masahiro Sakurai's Career
Masahiro Sakurai, who founded Sora Ltd. in 2005, is celebrated for his work on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, released for the Nintendo Switch in December 2018. He also operates a YouTube channel dedicated to game development, titled "Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games".
Kiyotaka Oshiyama's Contributions
Kiyotaka Oshiyama is recognized for his directorial work with Flip Flappers and the Look Back film. He is also involved in various animation projects, including DEVILMAN crybaby and Deca-Dence.
