Chibi Godzilla Raids Again: New Series Launches July 2, Adds Cast and Theme Song

The first fan meeting for Chibi Godzilla Raids Again (Chibi Godzilla no Gyakushū), the anime featuring the adorable Chibi Godzilla character, delivered exciting news: a brand-new TV series will premiere on July 2.

What's New in the Upcoming Series?
- Katsuyuki Konishi joins the cast as Chibi JJ (see image below).
- The group Wednesday Campanella created the series' new theme song, "Kaijū-Tō" (Monster Island), featured in the trailer above.
- The franchise will release its first DVD in Japan on October 29.

Recap: The Second Series
The second season of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again premiered on April 3, 2024, at 7:05 a.m. JST on TV Tokyo's Oha Suta program. Following the broadcast, episodes streamed for free on TOHO animation's YouTube channel. Since April 10, 2024, the franchise's YouTube channel also began streaming episodes with English subtitles.

Series Background
- The first Chibi Godzilla Raids Again anime aired in April 2023 as part of TV Tokyo's Iniminimanimo block, which showcases children's anime like Pui Pui Molcar Driving School.
- In 2020, animated shorts "Tadaima! Chibi Gojira" (I'm Home! Chibi Godzilla) were streamed on the franchise's YouTube channel.
Chibi Godzilla's Origins
- Debut: In October 2018, with Chiharu Sakazaki's picture book Ganbare Chibi Gojira (Do Your Best, Chibi Godzilla).
- Follow-up: Nakayoshi Chibi Gojira (Close Friends, Chibi Godzilla) launched in May 2019.
- Project Launch: July 2018, in celebration of the Godzilla franchise's 65th anniversary. Since then, Chibi Godzilla has appeared in public events, on the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building, at Gojira Fes, in animated shorts, and more.
- Designer Background: Sakazaki is also known for creating the Suica card penguin and Chiba Prefecture's mascot, Chi-ba-kun.
