About the Death Note Franchise
Originally published from 2003-2006, Ohba and Obata's Death Note manga follows Light Yagami, a teenager who discovers a deadly notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing their name. This sparks a tense battle of wits with a singular detective known as L.
The franchise has seen several other adaptations, including:
- A 37-episode TV anime (2006–2007)
- Multiple live-action films, such as Death Note and Death Note: The Last Name premiering in Japan in 2006
- Netflix's live-action Death Note film, directed by Adam Wingard, released in August 2017
