Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Surpasses 200 Million Copies Worldwide
The official X/Twitter account for the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise announced a remarkable milestone: over 200 million copies of Koyoharu Gotouge's manga are now in circulation globally.
The manga topped 150 million copies in circulation in February 2021, a figure that had increased about 43 times since the anime adaptation premiered in April 2019.
Launched in February 2016 in Weekly Shonen Jump by Shueisha, the manga concluded in May 2020 with its 23rd volume.
English publication is handled by Viz Media.
Film and Anime Success
The Demon Slayer anime first aired in April 2019, quickly gaining popularity.
The first film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, opens in Japan this Friday on a record 443 screens, including IMAX.
Outside Japan, the film aims to reach over 150 countries and regions, surpassing the franchise's previous world tour of 145 countries.
In the U.S. and Canada, the film will be released on September 12, available in theaters with options for English subtitles and dubs.
