Exciting news for fans of the series! Kadokawa has revealed a teaser visual for the upcoming second season of the popular anime The Detective Is Already Dead. The announcement also confirms the return of the cast, staff, and a debut set for 2026.

Background and Previous Seasons
The second season was first announced in July 2022. The anime's debut featured a one-hour special in July 2021, followed by a 12-episode run. Funimation streamed the series, offering both subtitled and dubbed versions.
About the Series
The Detective Is Already Dead follows Kimihiko Kimizuka, a young man who often finds himself in trouble. He becomes the assistant to Siesta, a globe-trotting detective, and together they solve mysteries. After Siesta's mysterious death, her legacy continues to influence Kimihiko and others.
Light Novels and Manga
- The series originated from Nigojū's light novels, first published in November 2019 under Kadokawa's MF Bunko J imprint.
- The novels won the 15th MF Bunko J newcomer award.
- Kadokawa plans to release the 13th volume on July 25.
- Yen Press is publishing the novels in English.
- A manga adaptation by Mugiko ran from May 2020 to October 2023 in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine.
Spinoff and Additional Works
In May 2024, Hoko Hinachi and Minori Chigusa launched a new spinoff novel titled Charlotte wa Tada, Jiken o Tokitai. Tantei wa Mō, Shindeiru. Code:RED. Nigojū is credited as the original creator and supervisor.
