The Evangelion Storyline
For those unfamiliar with the Neon Genesis Evangelion narrative, Netflix began streaming the classic 1995 anime in June 2019. It describes a dystopian world where:
“A.D. 2015. Tokyo 3 is under attack by powerful creatures known as the Angels. The protagonist, Shinji Ikari, is chosen to pilot the Humanoid Decisive Weapon Evangelion — humanity's only hope against the Angels. The battle for the fate of humanity starts now. What exactly are the Angels? What fate awaits the young pilots and humanity itself?”
Evolving the Legacy
The franchise continues to thrive, with much of its recent revival credited to cinematic releases:
- Evangelion: Death (True)2 (1998) is an updated edition of the original series.
- The End of Evangelion provided a new conclusion to the saga in 1997.
In December 2021, companies Shout! Factory and GKIDS launched a Collector's Edition of both the original anime and the films, further solidifying the franchise's enduring appeal among fans.
A Rich Franchise History
- The Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise has birthed numerous spinoffs, merchandise, and collaborations.
- Director Hideaki Anno founded Studio Khara in 2006, leading to the creation of the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy.
- The series started with Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone in 2007, followed by sequels that reinterpreted the narrative for a new audience.
- The final film, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, debuted in Japan in March 2021, taking box office ranks.
With engaging gameplay, a rich story, and a passionate fandom, Pixelity Inc.'s upcoming games promise to reignite the Neon Genesis Evangelion universe for a new generation.
