Upcoming Release: Crayon Shin-chan Movie in India

On Friday, PVR Inox Pictures announced that it will release Eiga Crayon Shin-chan: Ora-tachi no Kyōryū Nikki (Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Our Dinosaur Diary), the 31st film in the popular Crayon Shin-chan franchise, in Indian theaters on May 1. The movie will be available in multiple languages: Japanese with English subtitles, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Box Office Success in Japan
The film premiered in Japan on August 9 and made an impressive debut, opening at number two at the box office.
- Sales in the first three days: 365,000 tickets sold, earning about 455 million yen (approx. US$3.05 million).
- Sales in the first four days: 510,000 tickets sold, with a total earning of 636 million yen (approx. US$4.32 million), boosted by the Mountain Day holiday.
Storyline
The film explores the friendship between Shiro, the Nobara family's pet dog, and a small dinosaur. Their bond contributes significantly to the growth of Shinnosuke and the Kasukabe Defense Squad.
Notable Cast
- Takumi Kitamura guest stars as Billy, a biology researcher passionate about dinosaurs.
- The Ozwald comedy duo, Yū Hatanaka and Shunsuke Itō, also make guest appearances as Chū and Ammoner Itō.
Creative Team
The film is directed by Shinobu Sasaki, known for his work on the Duel Masters anime. The screenplay is penned by Moral, a writer for the Crayon Shin-chan TV series.
Music
My Hair is Bad, a popular rock band, performed the film's theme song titled Omoide o Kakenukete (Run Past Your Memories).
Future Plans
The next film in the Crayon Shin-chan series, titled Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Chō Karei! Shakunetsu no Kasukabe Dancers (Super Magnificent! Scorching Kasukabe Dancers), is set to release in Japan on August 8, 2025. This film will mark a significant milestone as the first dance entertainment movie in the franchise and will be set in India.
