On Thursday, GKIDS, Bandai Namco Filmworks, and Japan Society announced that the re-edited version of the upcoming anime, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, will premiere in North America. The screening will take place at Japan Society in New York City on February 20.

Theatrical Release
GKIDS has acquired the theatrical distribution rights and will release the film in theaters across North America on February 28. This collaboration marks the first between GKIDS and Bandai Namco Filmworks.
Box Office Success in Japan
The film debuted in Japan on January 17, quickly rising to the top of the box office. In its opening weekend, it:
- Sold 352,500 tickets
- Earned 598,832,300 yen (approximately US$3.83 million) in just three days
As of now, the film has sold a total of 1.18 million tickets and has grossed 1,935,716,409 yen (around US$12.55 million).
Plot Overview
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- follows the story of Amate Yuzuriha, a high school student living in a peaceful space colony. Her life takes a turn when she meets Nyaan, a war refugee, and becomes involved in the underground mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.

As Amate battles fiercely, she encounters an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police, along with its pilot, Shūji.
Creative Team
The anime is directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki (known for FLCL and Gunbuster 2: Diebuster), with script supervision by Yōji Enokido (Bungo Stray Dogs, Sailor Moon Super S). The character designs are by Take (Katanagatari, Pokémon Sun & Moon), and mechanical designs are by Ikuto Yamashita (Evangelion, Shin Kamen Rider).
