Exciting News for Dragon Quest Fans: Remakes Coming This October
Square Enix announced on Tuesday (Dragon Quest Day) that the highly anticipated HD-2D remakes of Dragon Quest I & II are set to launch on October 30, 2025. This release will be available on multiple platforms, including:
- Nintendo Switch (including the upcoming Switch 2)
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC via Steam and Windows
What's New?
The remakes feature the signature HD-2D art style, combining sprite-based visuals with stunning 3D backgrounds, dynamic lighting, and effects. This style is reminiscent of Square Enix's earlier hit, Octopath Traveler.
Pre-order and Collector's Edition
Pre-orders for the game have already begun. Fans can also purchase a limited collector's edition exclusively through the Square Enix store. This special package includes:

Background on the Series
The HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation was released earlier on November 14 for Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Windows.

Square Enix has ported the first three games across multiple platforms over the years, including Super Famicom, Game Boy Color, Wii, smartphones, and more.
