The highly anticipated 'Girls Band Cry' anime is making waves with new trailers and film releases!
First Film in the 'Seishun Kyōsōkyoku' Series
On Thursday, the official website unveiled the full trailer for the first of two upcoming films, part of the 'Seishun Kyōsōkyoku' (Rhapsody of Youth) series, along with the title 'Naa, Mirai' (Hey, Future). The trailer gives fans a glimpse of what's to come.
The same visual will also feature on the third batch of advance Movie Ticket cards, which will be available starting Friday, July 18 through the Movie Walker Store, Animate, and other sites. Each card comes with an acrylic stand, making it a perfect collectible for fans.
Cast and Staff
The returning cast includes:
- RINA as Nina Iseri
- Yuri as Momoka Kawaragi
- Mirei as Subaru Awa
- Natsu as Tomo Ebizuka
- Syuri as Rupa
The films are directed by Kazuo Sakai, known for works like Love Live! Sunshine!! and Mushi-Uta. Scriptwriting is handled by Jukki Hanada, with character designs by nari Teshima. The music features arrangements by Kenji Tamai and background music by Yūsuke Tanaka.
The project is distributed by Toei Animation, with new CGI direction by Daiki Nakazawa.
Release Dates
- First film, 'Seishun Kyōsōkyoku', premieres on October 3.
- The second film, 'Naa, Mirai', will screen on November 14.
Series Background and Reception
The anime originally premiered in April 2024, with a total of 13 episodes. It was later released digitally in North America on August 13 and is now streaming on Crunchyroll since November 6.
Health Updates on Cast Members
In July last year, it was announced that Mirei and Natsu would be on a temporary hiatus due to health reasons. The remaining main cast — Rina, Yuri, and Syuri — continue to perform and support the series.
Series Synopsis
"The main character drops out of high school in her second year, aiming to enter university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and feels lost. Another girl is abandoned by her parents and struggles to survive in the city through part-time jobs. This world often lets us down. Nothing goes as planned. But we all seek something we can hold onto. We believe there's a place where we belong—that's why we sing."
