Pop Group Returns for New Chapter in Chihayafuru Saga
Pop trio Perfume is back with a new theme song for the upcoming live-action TV series Chihayafuru -Meguri-, based on Yuki Suetsugu's beloved manga. The group's song, “Megu (Loop),” is featured in the latest promotional video shared by the series' official X/Twitter account.

Series Premiere and Cast
Chihayafuru -Meguri- will debut on July 9 at 10:00 p.m. JST (9:00 a.m. EDT) on NTV and affiliated channels.
Key cast members include:
- Ami Tōma as Meguru Aizawa, a quiet second-year high schooler involved in a struggling competitive karuta club.
- Mone Kamishiraishi returns as Kanade Ōe, now a part-time teacher and the karuta club’s adviser.
Production Team
- Original manga author Yuki Suetsugu is directly involved in the new series, which is set ten years after the previous live-action films.
- Norihiro Koizumi (director of the original films) serves as showrunner.

Story Synopsis:
Chihaya is a sixth grader who doesn’t know what passion is—until she meets Arata, a quiet transfer student with a unique talent for competitive karuta, a traditional Japanese card game. His enthusiasm for the sport inspires Chihaya, and together they become absorbed in the world of karuta, leading to a dramatic coming-of-age story.
