Exciting Cast Announcements for Grand Blue Dreaming's Second Season!
Fans of Grand Blue Dreaming got a treat during the latest episode of Grand Blue Hanakin Radio. The staff revealed new cast members for the highly anticipated second season of the popular anime adaptation of Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka's manga.
New Cast Members
- Aya Yamane will voice Sakurako Busujima, a first-year college student navigating her new surroundings.
- Sumire Morohoshi takes on the role of Shiori Kitahara, who happens to be Iori's younger sister.
- Yoshino Aoyama joins as Naomi Otoya, a high school student who works in the kitchen where Iori has a part-time job.
Season two will pick up as Iori returns to Izu after finishing his diving license training in Okinawa, along with a heartfelt letter from his sister Shiori.
Returning Production Team
The excitement doesn't stop there! Zero-G is back at the helm to animate the new season, with the support of the studio Liber. Key returning members include:
- Shinji Takamatsu as director and scriptwriter, also in charge of sound direction.
- Hideoki Kusama as character designer and chief animation director, supported by Yōichi Ueda.
- The sound production will be managed by Saber Links.
There’s also a shift in some production roles. Reiji Kasuga will now serve as the art director, alongside jimao, who takes over prop design from Hiroshi Ogawa. Naoyuki Katō steps in as the compositing director of photography, and Shun Tokuda will handle editing, replacing Masaki Utsunomiya. Notably, the music will now be composed by Yukari Hashimoto, known for her work on Mr. Osomatsu and Sarazanmai, taking the reins from Manual of Errors Artists.
Manga Series and Release Details
On the manga front, Grand Blue Dreaming continues to thrive. Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the series digitally in English, with the latest volume, the 23rd, hitting shelves on October 7. Fans can look forward to the 21st volume scheduled for release on February 11, 2024.
The manga made its debut in April 2014 in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine and has since inspired a successful anime, which premiered in July 2018. Beyond anime, it also led to a live-action film that premiered in Japan in August 2020.
