50 Cent Joins Star-Studded Cast in Legendary's Live-Action Street Fighter Film
The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Thursday that rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson will take on the role of the disgraced boxer Balrog in Legendary Entertainment's upcoming live-action adaptation of CAPCOM's iconic Street Fighter fighting game series. Jackson is reportedly training to perform his own stunts for the part.

A Powerhouse Ensemble
Deadline previously reported a stellar cast lineup featuring:
- Callina Liang (Presence, Bad Genius, Tell Me Everything) as Chun-Li
- Andrew Koji (Snake Eyes) as Ryu
- Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Game of Thrones) as Blanka
- Noah Centineo (Warfare) as Ken
- Roman Reigns (WWE professional wrestler) as Akuma
- Orville Peck (Cabaret Broadway play) as Vega
Film Release and Direction
The film was originally set to premiere on March 20, 2026. However, Sony has since removed it from their release calendar without announcing a new date. Filming is planned to begin in Australia this August under the direction of Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, Bad Trip).
Legendary Entertainment acquired the film and television rights to Street Fighter in April 2023, working closely with CAPCOM on future projects.
Notably, brothers Danny and Michael Philippou were initially slated to direct but stepped away to focus on their film Bring Her Back.
Street Fighter on Screen: A Legacy
Street Fighter has a rich history in live-action and animation:
- The 1994 live-action film starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Ming-Na Wen, Damian Chapa, Kylie Minogue, and Wes Studi.
- In 2009, HYDE Park Entertainment produced Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li starring Kristin Kreuk.
- The live-action series Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist and Street Fighter: Resurrection were produced by Machinima, with releases on YouTube and various streaming platforms.
- A television series titled Street Fighter: World Warrior was originally planned in 2018.
