Live-Action '5 Centimeters Per Second' Film Unveils Teaser and Cast
The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Makoto Shinkai's beloved anime, 5 Centimeters Per Second, has just released exciting new details! The official website unveiled a teaser trailer, visuals, additional cast members, and a remastered version of Masayoshi Yamazaki's iconic track "One more time, One more chance," which featured in the original animated film.

Cast Announcements
The new cast includes talented actors portraying key characters:
- Yuzu Aoki as high school-aged Takaki Toono
- Nana Mori as Kanae Sumida
- Mai Kiryū as Risa Mizuno
- Aoi Miyazaki as Midori Koshimizu
- Hidetaka Yoshioka as Ryūichi Ogawa
Additionally, Hokuto Matsumura from SixTONES stars as Sōta Munakata, a character from the anime Suzume. Haruto Ueda and Noa Shiroyama will play the childhood versions of Takaki and Akari, respectively.

Release Details
The film is set to hit theaters on October 10. It is produced by Spoon and distributed by TOHO. The direction is led by Yoshiyuki Okuyama, with Ayako Suzuki handling the screenplay, and Ayatake Ezaki composing the music.
About the Film
The original anime, released in 2007, tells the poignant story of Takaki Tono across three stages of his life, exploring his fading connection with a girl he once loved:
- Middle School: Takaki tries to meet Akari Shinohara one last time, braving snow and circumstances.
- High School: He continues to think about Akari, unaware of Kanae's love for him.
- Adulthood: He struggles with relationships and work, haunted by memories of Akari.
The anime was previously released on DVD by Crunchyroll in 2011, with later reissues by Discotek and GKIDS, who released it on Blu-ray in 2022.
Creative Team
Makoto Shinkai directed, wrote, and storyboarded the original anime, also serving as sound director, producer, and art director. The music was composed by Tenmon.
