About the Novel
Published in 2001, Shinji Ishii's novel tells the story of Giuseppe, known as the "Obsessed Man" due to his tendency to fixate on different things for short periods. His life changes when he falls in love with Pechka, a balloon seller. Despite his efforts to get closer, Pechka's own sadness keeps her distant. Giuseppe enlists his friend Cielo, a mouse, to help him use his previous obsessions to reach Pechka.
