New Cast Announced for Upcoming Mononoke Film
The highly anticipated second film in the Mononoke trilogy has just revealed more exciting details. The film's official X/Twitter account shared news about the cast, main visual, and trailer for the upcoming installment set to premiere on March 14, 2025.
Latest Cast Additions
Apart from the main cast, the newly announced characters include:
- Ryō Horikawa as Fujimaki
- Naomi Kusumi as Katsunuma
- Yoshiko Sakakibara as Suikōin
- Yukana as Sayo
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Sachiko

Returning Characters
Previously announced cast members include:
- Chō as Yoshimichi Tokita
- Kenyuu Horiuchi as Rōjū Ōtomo (elderly Ōtomo)
- Hiroshi Kamiya as the Medicine Seller (reprising his role)
- Other returning voices include Haruka Tomatsu as Botan Ōtomo, Yōko Hikasa as Fuki Tokita, and Yūki Kaji as Saburōmaru Tokita.
Theme Song
The theme song for the upcoming film, titled Hana Musō, will be performed by singer Aina The End.
About Mononoke
The first film, Mononoke The Movie: Phantom in the Rain (Gekijōban Mononoke: Karakasa), premiered in July 2024 and is currently available for streaming on Netflix. This film won the Axis: Satoshi Kon Award for Excellence in Animation for best animated feature film at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal.
Director Kenji Nakamura returns from the original series, with production handled by Twin Engine. The first film's character design was crafted by Kitsuneko Nagata with music composed by Taku Iwasaki.
Previously, the Mononoke anime aired in 2007 and has gained a strong following since its release, exploring the journey of the Medicine Seller.
