Live-Action Film of Masakazu Ishiguro's Manga 'Nemurubaka' to Premiere on Netflix
A new adaptation of Masakazu Ishiguro's beloved manga, Nemurubaka, is making waves! The film, which opened in Japanese theaters on March 20, will be available on Netflix starting July 20.

About the Film
The movie is directed by Yūgo Sakamoto (Baby Assassins) and stars:
- Shiori Kubo (member of Nogizaka46) as Yumi Irusu
- Yūna Taira (known for ReLIFE and Honey) as Ruka Kujirai
The story follows the daily lives of college dorm roommates Yumi Irusu and Ruka Kujirai. Ruka, the older of the two, struggles financially despite being active in a band. Meanwhile, Yumi works part-time at a second-hand bookstore.
Music and Theme Song
Yūna Taira's character, Ruka Kujirai, performs the theme song "Nemurubaka". The song was co-written by Ishiguro and Asahi from Necry Talkie, who also composed it. The lyrics are based on the original manga.
Manga Background
Ishiguro launched Nemurubaka in Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Ryū magazine in September 2006, concluding it in January 2008. The manga was compiled into a single volume.
