Fantasy Maiden Wars - DREAM OF THE STRAY DREAMER - Set to Launch in 2025

Publisher Phoenixx has announced an exciting new addition to the Touhou Project series. The game, titled Fantasy Maiden Wars - DREAM OF THE STRAY DREAMER -, is scheduled for release in 2025 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam worldwide.

What is the game about?

According to Phoenixx, players will step into the shoes of Marisa and Reimu, two iconic characters from Gensokyo. As mysterious events unfold across the land, players must combine offensive skills with strategic positioning to succeed in turn-based battles. The game involves searching for the source of strange phenomena and banishing evil spirits.

"The fate of womankind lies in the hands of the magical Marisa and Shrine Maiden Reimu. As mysteries manifest throughout Gensokyo, combine offensive prowess with precise positioning to gain the upper hand in turn-based battles. Search out the source of strange happenings, and banish evil from the land. Plan out pulverizing melee attacks, and execute bullet-hell style attacks from afar for widespread destruction."

Players can assemble squads with over 70 characters and utilize Spell Cards that grant various abilities, adding depth and strategy to the gameplay.

Background and History

The game was first released in Japan for Nintendo Switch in 2022.

Sanbondo, the developer behind the series, has a rich history of creating bullet hell and simulation RPG games inspired by Super Robot Wars. Their Gensō Shōjo Taisen series was released in four parts for PC between 2010 and 2017, with a complete edition launched in August 2019.
