New AI-Generated Omnibus Film 'generAIdoscope' Debuts in Tokyo
REAL COFFEE ENTERTAINMENT has unveiled an exciting new project: generAIdoscope, a full-length omnibus movie created entirely with generative AI. The film is set to premiere on August 29 at the Uplink Kichijōji Cinema in Tokyo.

A Unique Creative Collaboration
The film was originally scheduled to screen in Japanese theaters in 2024. It features three original stories directed by notable creators:
- Hirotaka Adachi (pen name Otsuichi), known for novels like Calling You and Goth, as well as the screenplay for Summer Ghost.
- Takeshi Sone, cinematographer of One Cut of the Dead, who also directed the story AZUSA.
- Hiroki Yamaguchi, director of Bloody Chainsaw Girl and winner of awards for his AI films.
All content—video, audio, and music—is entirely generated by AI, with the stories specially written for this project.
The Stories of generAIdoscope
1. Monkeys Odyssey (Directed by Hirotaka Adachi)
During the Age of Exploration, a sailor washes ashore on an island inhabited by monkeys. Curious about the cargo, the monkeys start reading books, gaining intelligence and developing tools. The sailor then considers using the monkeys to escape the island.
2. AZUSA (Directed by Takeshi Sone)
Azusa Ishizuka is a quirky girl who often daydreams. She dreams of meeting a female designer at a cafe—who turns out to be her deceased mother. Driven by the desire to reconnect, Azusa navigates between her dreams and reality. This story recently won the Best Animation Award at the Seoul International AI Film Festival 2025.
3. GRANDMALEVIT (Directed by Hiroki Yamaguchi)
Set in a distant future, Grandma Levit, a former magician, journeys across various landscapes with her cat and musical instrument. Her quest's true purpose is revealed as she travels from a ruined city to underground worlds. This story was also selected for the Seoul International AI Film Festival 2025.

- Hirotaka Adachi (pen name Otsuichi) is renowned for his novels and anime screenplay work, including Summer Ghost and Oblivion Island. Recently, Netflix adapted his original story into the horror anime series Exception in 2022.
- Takeshi Sone has been producing AI films independently since 2023, with works like My Universe here, which was showcased at the Japanese Serbian Film Festival.
- Hiroki Yamaguchi began using generative AI in 2024, earning awards for his sci-fi short IMPROVEMENT CYCLE at international festivals.
