Exciting News: Anne Shirley Anime to Premiere Soon!
The official website for the much-anticipated anime adaptation of Anne of Green Gables has some thrilling updates! On Wednesday, they unveiled the anime’s vibrant key visual, introduced additional staff, released a teaser promotional video, and announced that the series will premiere on April 5.
The animation team is packed with talented individuals. Yūji Watanabe and Naoko Saitō will be at the helm as animation directors, while Tadashi Kudo takes charge of the art direction. The color key artistry will be handled by Shiho Kuriki, and Shinji Saitō is set to supervise the photography direction. Fans of the sound department can look forward to Kisuke Koizumi directing the music, composed by the talented Michiru Ōshima.
Joining the cast is exciting news—watch out for the anime's adaptation of the manga by Akane Hoshikubo, which has been running in Kadokawa's B's-LOG COMIC magazine since January 5.
For those unfamiliar with the story, the original novel brings us to late 19th century Avonlea, a picturesque town in Canada. Anne Shirley, an imaginative 11-year-old orphan, is mistakenly sent to live with siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, who originally wanted to adopt a boy. The narrative explores Anne's adventures both in school and in the community.
The anime is set to delve into Anne's evolution from childhood to adulthood, highlighting her relationships with Matthew and Marilla, her close friendship with Diana, and her romance with Gilbert. These beloved themes are sure to resonate, as they were also featured in Montgomery's later novels.
Interestingly, Hanako Muraoka translated the original novel into Japanese in 1952, giving it the title Akage no Anne. This isn't the first time Anne's story has been brought to life in Japan. The tale first inspired a television series back in 1979, masterminded by director Isao Takahata, a notable figure behind Studio Ghibli, where Hayao Miyazaki was also involved in the early episodes.
Fans of the story can stream with excitement as this cherished classic gets a new anime twist. With skilled professionals and a beloved story, the upcoming Anne Shirley anime promises to be a delightful journey through the life of a remarkable girl. Stay tuned for more updates!
