Gōshō Aoyama Hour: Two Manga Series Unite

Every Saturday, fans of manga and anime can enjoy the new Gōshō Aoyama Hour, featuring two shows by the acclaimed creator, Gōshō Aoyama. Recently, the latest episode of Detective Conan ended with exciting news about its upcoming collaboration.

Shin Samurai-den YAIBA Premiere Date

On April 5, the new anime Shin Samurai-den YAIBA, based on Aoyama's Yaiba manga, will debut. It will be aired on YTV and NTV and their affiliates in Japan at 5:30 p.m. (4:30 a.m. EDT). This time slot precedes Detective Conan, which airs at 6:00 p.m. (5:00 a.m. EST), marking the inception of the Gōshō Aoyama Hour block.

Early Screenings and Cast

Before the official premiere, the first three episodes of Shin Samurai-den YAIBA will have early screenings at TOHO CINEMAS locations on March 13. These screenings will feature a roundtable video with Aoyama, director Takahiro Hasui, and character designer Yoshimichi Kameda.

Character Overview

The story follows Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai inspired by the historical Miyamoto Musashi, who is known for his dual-sword fighting technique and military strategies outlined in The Book of Five Rings.

Aoyama's Legacy

Aoyama launched the Yaiba series in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday in September 1988, concluding in December 1993 with a total of 24 volumes. An earlier adaptation aired as a 52-episode anime from April 1993 to April 1994, and the character has made multiple appearances in the Detective Conan franchise.
