Exciting New Anime Set to Premiere This April
Anime fans, get ready! A new series is on the way, premiering in April at 5:30 p.m. (3:30 a.m. EST) every Saturday on YTV, NTV, and other affiliated channels across Japan.
The show revolves around Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai whose character draws inspiration from the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Musashi was known for his unique two-sword fighting style, Hyōhō Niten Ichi-ryū, and his renowned book, The Book of Five Rings, which delves into military strategy.
This exciting project comes with a talented team:
- Takahiro Hasui, known for his work on Aikatsu Friends! and Mob Psycho 100 II, takes the helm as director at Wit Studio.
- Touko Machida is penning the series scripts, bringing experience from 7th Time Loop and The IDOLM@STER.
- The character designs are in the skilled hands of Yoshimichi Kameda, who previously worked on the INU-OH film.
- Takeshi Maenami contributes as the sub-character designer and main animator, with a background in popular titles like Ni no Kuni and Uma Musume.
- The musical score is crafted by Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa, both known for their work on notable anime.
- Haru Yamada directs the sound, while Maiko Okada oversees animation production.
The manga was created by Aoyama, appearing in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday from September 1988 until its conclusion in December 1993, totaling 24 volumes. In fact, this series inspired a popular 52-episode anime adaptation that aired from April 1993 to April 1994.
Fans may also recognize character references woven into the Detective Conan series, including a memorable appearance in the 2000 OVA Detective Conan: Conan vs Kid vs YAIBA - The Grand Battle for the Treasure Sword!!.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the premiere date! This is shaping up to be an anime worth watching.
