New Live-Action Resident Evil Film Set for 2026 Release
Entertainment news outlet Deadline has reported that Sony is set to release a new live-action reboot of CAPCOM's iconic survival horror game franchise, Resident Evil, directed by Zach Cregger. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on September 18, 2026.

This upcoming film will mark the eighth live-action installment in the Resident Evil franchise. The first six films, released between 2002 and 2017, starred Milla Jovovich. The most recent reboot, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, premiered in the U.S. in November 2021 and in Japan in January 2022. This film featured an original story set in the late 1990s and included characters from various games in the series, with oversight from CAPCOM producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi.
