During the recent CAPCOM Spotlight + Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase livestream, the gaming company made a thrilling announcement. They revealed that a remastered edition of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is set to launch in 2025! This beloved title will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Originally released back in 2002 for the PlayStation 2, Onimusha 2 quickly became a classic. The game was launched in Japan in March, followed by North America in August, and Europe in October the same year. Now, over two decades later, fans can experience the game anew with improved visuals and gameplay.
Capcom has a rich history with the Onimusha series, which first graced gamers in 2001. The franchise takes players through the Sengoku era, blending historical narratives with supernatural elements—a mix that has intrigued fans for years. The most recent entry before this remaster was Onimusha: Warlords, released in January 2019.
