The latest anime sensation, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX –Beginning–, has experienced a notable decline at the Japanese box office, dropping from #2 to #4 in its fourth weekend. Despite this setback, the film managed to sell 112,000 tickets, grossing 191,364,700 yen (approximately US$1.24 million) over the weekend. Overall, the film has sold a remarkable 1.38 million tickets, totaling 2,256,093,900 yen (around US$14.62 million).

Gundam GQuuuuuuX debuted at #1 upon its release on January 17, selling 352,500 tickets and grossing 598,832,300 yen (around US$3.83 million) during its first three days. Fans can look forward to immersive MX4D and 4DX screenings beginning February 22.
Plot Overview:
The film follows Amate Yuzuriha, a high school student living in a space colony. Her life changes when she meets a war refugee, Nyaan, and gets involved in the dangerous world of illegal mobile suit dueling known as Clan Battle.
The anime is directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, with scripts supervised by Yōji Enokido and co-written with Hideaki Anno.

Animating memories, Gekijō-ban Nintama Rantaro Dokutake Ninja-tai Saikyō no Gunshi, the first anime film in the Nintama Rantaro franchise in 13 years, has slipped from #3 to #6 in its eighth weekend. The film collected 117,018,590 yen (approximately US$758,700) this weekend, totaling 2,260,763,570 yen (about US$14.65 million). Released on December 20, it attracted 198,000 viewers in its opening weekend.
Directed by Masaya Fujimori, the film is based on Kazuhisa Sakaguchi's 2013 novel.

The live-action adaptation of Cells at Work!, based on Akane Shimizu's popular manga, has fallen from #4 to #8 after nine weeks, earning 87,233,410 yen (about US$565,500) this weekend. Its total earnings have reached 5,922,211,120 yen (about US$38.39 million).
The film, which premiered on December 13 and debuted at #1, will continue to entertain audiences with 4DX and IMAX screenings.

Directed by Hideki Takeuchi, with a screenplay by Yūichi Tokunaga, this adaptation showcases the universe of human cells, personified and engaged in life-or-death battles.
