Exciting News: Live-Action Adaptation of Strobe Edge Announced!
WOWOW has revealed that they are developing a new live-action series based on Strobe Edge, the popular manga by Io Sakisaka. This adaptation will air and stream starting this fall, and it will be a two-season series.
Reuniting the Creative Team
The series will star Riko Fukumoto and Kyohei Takahashi. Fans will be pleased to know that the team behind WOWOW's previous successful adaptation of Sakisaka's Blue Spring Ride (Ao Haru Ride) is returning. Masato Kimura and Yūsuke Matsuda will direct, with Sayaka Kuwamura once again handling the script.
About the Series
Strobe Edge is a heartfelt story that explores the meaning of love. Ninako Kinoshita, the protagonist, is curious about this mysterious feeling called love. Her life changes when she meets Ren Ichinose, a charming and enigmatic boy adored by many girls. With just a smile and a few words, Ren begins to transform Ninako's world.
What is love, anyway? Ninako wonders, as her friends share their thoughts. The manga, launched in 2007 in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret, ended in 2010. It has been praised for its authentic portrayal of teenage romance.
Past Adaptations and International Release
Strobe Edge previously inspired a live-action film released in Japan in March 2015, starring Sōta Fukushi and Kasumi Arimura. The manga has also been published in English by Viz Media, which describes the story as follows:
Ninako Kinoshita's friends tell her what love is, but she’s unsure. When she meets Ren Ichinose, her world turns upside down. With just a smile, he changes everything.
About the Manga
Io Sakisaka launched Strobe Edge in 2007 and concluded it in 2010. Besides Strobe Edge, Viz Media has also released her other works, including Blue Spring Ride, Sakura, Saku!, and Love Me, Love Me Not.
Stay Tuned!
This new adaptation promises to bring the beloved story to life with fresh energy. Fans can look forward to the premiere in fall 2025.
