In early June 2025, the Broadcasting Ethics & Programming Improvement Organization (BPO), a Japanese non-profit, released its May 2025 "Voice from the Audience" newsletter. Among the feedback, a concern was raised about a scene in the latest Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, where a high school girl is depicted playing online casino games. The comment expressed worries that such portrayals in late-night anime, accessible to minors, could have a negative impact.

Responses to this complaint varied. Some criticized the BPO for not addressing more pressing issues, such as the alleged misconduct within Johnny & Associates, a prominent talent agency. Others questioned the relevance of the complaint, noting that the series airs during a late-night time slot, suggesting it targets an older audience.
A satirical comment highlighted the absurdity of the complaint by suggesting filing a grievance over the depiction of colony drops in the Gundam franchise, a recurring theme since the original series.
However, one commenter acknowledged the concern, pointing out that while obtaining a gun in Japan is difficult, accessing online casino games through a parent's phone is relatively easy, potentially exposing minors to gambling.
As of now, the BPO, Nippon Television, and the production team of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX have not provided further comments on the matter.
