Kengo Kawanishi Joins Kowloon Generic Romance Anime Cast
The official website for the upcoming Kowloon Generic Romance anime has released its second promotional video and key visual, revealing exciting details about the cast and theme song. This anime, based on Jun Mayuzuki's manga, is set to premiere on April 5.
New Cast and Theme Music
In the new announcement, Kengo Kawanishi joins the cast as Yūlong, a researcher exploring the mysteries of Kowloon alongside Hebinuma. The opening theme song, "Summertime Ghost" will be performed by Wednesday Campanella, while singer-songwriter mekakushe will deliver the ending theme "Koi no Retronym (A Retronym for Love)."

About the Story
Kowloon Generic Romance transports viewers to the Kowloon Walled City, a dystopian setting filled with nostalgia where the past, present, and future collide. The plot centers around Reiko Kujirai, a real estate agent, as she navigates a tale of romance in this unique environment.
Yen Press is releasing the manga in English and describes it as:
"Welcome to Kowloon Walled City: a dystopian townscape where the people are brimming with nostalgia, and where the past, present, and future converge. Amid the hidden emotions and extraordinary daily lives of the men and women working in its confines, a tale of romance begins to unfold for real estate agent Reiko Kujirai—one that feels as familiar as Kowloon itself…"

Production Team
Directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki (Love Hina, We Never Learn: BOKUBEN), the anime is produced by Arvo Animation. The script is written by Jin Tanaka (Oshi no Ko), with character designs by Yuka Shibata (Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You).
Haruka Shiraishi takes on the role of Reiko Kujirai, while Tomokazu Sugita voices her colleague Hajime Kudō.
Live-Action Adaptation
In addition to the anime, Kowloon Generic Romance is also inspiring a live-action film set to open this summer. Riho Yoshioka will star as Reiko Kujirai, and Kōshi Mizukami will portray Hajime Kudō.
Manga Release
The manga is available in English through Yen Press, with the latest volume released on September 17. Jun Mayuzuki first launched this captivating story in Weekly Young Jump in November 2019.
