The 20th volume of Hiroyuki Etō's manga series, Mahōjin Guru Guru 2 (also known as Magical Circle Guru-Guru 2), revealed on April 12 that the series will end with its next volume.
About the Sequel
Mahōjin Guru Guru 2 launched on the Square Enix's Gangan Online website in 2012.
The sequel continues the whimsical fantasy and comedy of the original manga.
History of the Franchise
The original Mahōjin Guru-Guru manga ran in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine from 1992 to 2003.
In 2008, Etō created a spinoff, Buyūden Kita Kita, focusing on a comedic dancing old man from the original series. This ran until 2012 when Mahōjin Guru Guru 2 began.
Etō's inspiration came from classic role-playing games, resulting in a unique parody series.
Anime Adaptations and Legacy
The adventures of Nike and Kukuri led to a popular TV anime from 1994–1995, a 1996 film, and a 2000 TV sequel, Doki Doki Densetsu Mahōjin Guru Guru.
In 2017, a new TV anime adaptation aired. This reboot was not a sequel or an adaptation of Mahōjin Guru Guru 2, but rather started fresh with the manga’s first chapter, showing Nike and Kukuri's first meeting in Jimina Village.
