Exciting News: Second Season of Medalist Anime Revealed!
The official website for the anime adaptation of Medalist, the popular Olympic ice-skating manga by Tsurumaikada, has just announced some thrilling updates!
Teaser Visual and Promotional Video Unveiled
On Sunday, fans got a sneak peek with the release of the second season's teaser visual and a promotional video. The new season is set to debut in January 2026 on the NUMAnimation programming block, broadcast on TV Asahi and 23 other affiliate channels.

Returning Cast and Staff
The upcoming season will feature the same talented cast and crew. Notably, Hazuki Nakamura, who was the environment supervisor in the first season, will now serve as the art director, taking over from Yōko Nakao. Additionally, Kentaro Kashiwagi, previously the 3DCG composite supervisor, will be the new compositing director of photography, replacing Shin'ichi Komeya.

The anime premiered in Japan on January 4 at 1:30 a.m. (effectively January 5) on TV Asahi and 23 affiliated channels. It also aired on BS Asahi starting January 6. Fans worldwide can stream it on Disney+.
Behind the Scenes: Choreography and Inspiration
Olympic skater Akiko Suzuki, returning for the second season, choreographed the skating routines. She collaborated with retired figure skater Yuhana Yokoi and active competitor Hinano Isobe to bring authentic skating action to the anime.
Manga Origins and Awards
The anime is based on the manga Medalist, licensed in English by Kodansha USA Publishing. The story follows Tsukasa, whose dreams were shattered, and Inori, who is left to fend for herself. Together, they share a dream — to shine on the world stage through ice skating.
Tsurumaikada launched the manga in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine in May 2020. The 13th volume was published on June 23.
The manga has received critical acclaim, winning:
- Best General Manga at the 68th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2023
- Best General Manga at Kodansha's 48th Annual Manga Awards in May 2024
