Otakon 2025 staff announced that acclaimed manga artist Minoji Kurata will be one of the guests at this year's event. Kurata is widely recognized for her work on the manga adaptation of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Mao Mao no Kōkyū Nazotoki Techō (also known as The Apothecary Diaries The Palace Cloister Mystery-Solving Notebook of Mao Mao). This manga is based on the light novel series The Apothecary Diaries by Natsu Hyūga.
- Kurata launched Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Mao Mao no Kōkyū Nazotoki Techō in Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX magazine in August 2017.
- The series has also been published online by Sunday Webry since December 2018.
- This manga adaptation is a different interpretation from Nekokurage’s manga version of the same light novel series.
Other Notable Works
Minoji Kurata is also known for illustrating the manga Assassin’s Creed: Blade of Shao Jun. Viz Media publishes the English version of this manga.
- The manga launched as Assassin's Creed: China in Monthly Sunday GX in October 2019.
Career Beginnings
Kurata made her debut in 2010 with the manga Daily Life of Scholar Shinjiro Katsuragi.

Otakon 2025 promises to be an exciting event featuring not only Minoji Kurata but also voice actors Nobutoshi Canna and Ryōko Shiraishi.
- Last year’s Otakon in August 2024 set a new attendance record with 46,000 attendees.
