Game Development Journey
Pocketpair debuted Palworld in January 2024 as a Steam Early Access title, rapidly attracting 25 million users within a month of launch.
The PS5 version was launched in 68 countries on September 25, but faced a delay for a Japanese release, which finally occurred on October 4.
Additionally, a joint venture named Palworld Entertainment was established in July 2024 between Pocketpair, Sony Music Entertainment Japan Inc., and its subsidiary Aniplex.
In a recent development, South Korean gaming firm Krafton has signed a licensing agreement with Pocketpair to extend Palworld’s IP to mobile platforms.
However, the game faces a legal challenge, as Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair at the Tokyo District Court on September 18.
