TV Tokyo Announces Drama Series Premiere

TV Tokyo has revealed plans for a live-action television series based on Replica: Revenge of the Ex-Wife (Replica Moto Tsuma no Fukushū), the manga by Tomo Tanaka and Hacchi Hirai. The drama is set to premiere on July 7 in the "Drama Premiere" programming block.

Lead Cast and Character Details

Reina Triendl, known for roles in Tag, Tokyo Alice, and Terrace House, will take on the lead role. She plays both Aoi Fujimura (pictured below) and Sumire Itō (second image)—two identities for the same character. In the story, Aoi assumes a new appearance and name as Sumire to seek her revenge.

Story Overview

Replica: Revenge of the Ex-Wife is a dramatic story of transformation and vengeance. According to MangaPlaza, which publishes the manga in English:

Aoi grew up constantly being made fun of and bullied for her appearance. After enduring years of hardship, she finally marries the man of her dreams. But her happiness is short-lived—he cheats on her with the woman who bullied her in school, leading to their divorce. Fuelled by betrayal, Aoi seeks revenge by reshaping her identity as Sumire and slowly working her way back into their lives.
