Delay Announced for 'Sentenced to Be a Hero' Anime
Originally scheduled for October, the highly anticipated anime adaptation of Sentenced to Be a Hero has been delayed. The series will now premiere in January 2026, with a special 60-minute episode serving as the first installment.

New Details and Livestream Announcement
Kadokawa announced the delay on Tuesday, along with plans for a special livestream on July 26 at 7:00 p.m. (6:00 a.m. EDT) to reveal new information about the series.
Originally, the anime was set to premiere in October. Fans will now have to wait a bit longer, but the wait will include some exciting updates.

The anime features a talented voice cast:

- Mayu Iizuka as Teoritta
- Shizuka Ishigami as Patausche Kivia
- Shun Horie as Dotta Luzulas

The series is directed by Hiroyuki Takashima, known for Mushoku Tensei and The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls U149. It is produced at Studio KAI.

Story and Source
The story, published by Yen Press in English, revolves around heroism as a punishment for criminals. Those sentenced to be heroes fight against the demon king's army, with the possibility of revival if they die. The plot thickens when their leader, convicted of killing a goddess, encounters another goddess, potentially changing the world.
The light novel series began on Kadokawa's Kakuyomu site in October 2020 and was later published in print starting September 2021, with the latest volume released on January 17.
Manga Adaptation
Natsumi Inoue launched the manga adaptation on Kadokawa's Dengeki Comic Regulus website in March 2022. The second volume was published in April 2024, and the manga is also available digitally in English via BookWalker Global.
