About Obocchama-kun
The series follows the adventures of Obocchama, the heir of the wealthy Obo family, as he navigates life at the elite Denenchofu Academy. The show is a comedic take on upper-class life, featuring a cast of eccentric elementary school classmates:
- Kakino Shuhei: Cchama's first friend who doesn't rely on money.
- Ojo Samayo: Cchama's fiancée from a prominent family.
- Fukurokoji Kanemitsu: A classmate from a nearly as wealthy family.
- Binbo Taijo: A proud classmate whose family once enjoyed wealth.
The anime adaptation of Obocchama-kun, based on Yoshinori Kobayashi's manga, originally aired in Japan from 1989 to 1992. It has also been broadcast on children's channels in India, with dubs in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
New Anime Adaptation Coming Soon
In September, TV Asahi announced a new anime adaptation of the manga, specifically targeting the Indian market, set to release this spring. This project is a collaboration with Sony Pictures Networks India, under the supervision of Kobayashi. The animation will be produced in India by Shinei Animation.
What to Expect
- 26 episodes aimed at children aged 6-11.
- The series will air on the Sony YAY! channel.
Kobayashi's original manga was serialized in Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic magazine from 1986 to 1994, with a total of 24 compiled volumes published.
