Toei Animation Launches New Brand "Eterna Animation" for Original Works
Celebrating 70 Years of Toei Animation
Toei Animation has announced the launch of a new original animation brand, Eterna Animation, as part of its approach to the company's 70th anniversary in 2026.
Eterna Animation: Vision and Values
Toei Animation describes the creation of Eterna Animation as a step toward building a sustainable creative platform focused on original works. The new brand will also:
- Nurture and discover emerging creative talents
- Serve as a next-generation animation project model
The company says the name "ETERNA" (meaning "eternal") expresses its goal to craft stories that linger in the hearts and memories of viewers. Guided by five creative values:

- Artistry

- Decency
Eterna Animation aims to deliver fresh stories, highlight new creative voices, and experiment with new styles of animation for long-lasting emotional impact.
Introducing "FOXING: Kitsuné-tsuki"
Alongside the new brand, Toei Animation announced FOXING: Kitsuné-tsuki as Eterna Animation's first project.
This short film is described as a poetic exploration of themes such as isolation, fantasy, and self-confrontation in contemporary society, following the protagonist’s emotional journey toward personal liberation.

Festival Premiere and Future Release
Eterna Animation will present "FOXING: Kitsuné-tsuki" at the MIFA Talent Panel during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this month. The presentation will feature both Shinozuka and Moriyama, along with a showcase of pre-production materials.
The short film is expected to release in 2026.
