Last Thursday, the talent agency Tom Project announced the passing of actor Atomu Shimojo at the age of 78. He died in a Tokyo hospital after battling health issues related to an acute subdural hematoma, a condition he was diagnosed with in September 2023. His health had deteriorated significantly before his death.
A private funeral was held for his close relatives.
A Life in Acting
Born on November 26, 1946, in Tokyo, Shimojo made a significant impact in the world of voice acting and live-action roles. Some of his notable performances include:
- Futoshi Tsutsui in Human Crossing
- Narrator in Yamakoshi Mura no Mari to Sanbiki no Koinu
- Seijiro Tachibana in the live-action Kamen Rider Hibiki
- Hideji Saijō in the live-action special for Chibi Maruko-chan
In addition to his on-screen roles, Shimojo was known for providing the Japanese voice for Eddie Murphy in several live-action films, showcasing his versatility and talent.
