Shueisha has announced that Yoshifumi Tozuka's popular manga, Undead Unluck, is expanding its universe with a new novel titled Hiteishatachi no Aoharu na Kōkō Seikatsu (The Youthful High School Life of the Negators), set to be released on April 4.

Story Overview

The upcoming novel follows Fuuko, immersed in the excitement of preparing for her school festival when unexpected events unfold, turning her lively high school life upside down.

Previous Releases

This novel marks the third addition to the Undead Unluck series, which previously saw two novels published in 2022 and 2023.

Manga Background

Tozuka first published Undead Unluck as a one-shot in January 2019 in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The series was then serialized starting January 2020.
Viz Media began digital publication of the manga in January 2020 and printed versions were released in May 2021.
The MANGA Plus service from Shueisha also offers digital access to the manga.
The serialized manga concluded on January 27, with the final 27th volume shipping in April, featuring additional new content.

All Fuuko wants is a passionate romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga. Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible. But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she's become Andy's unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good. However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy's burial plans on hold.

Anime Adaptation

In October 2023, a television anime adaptation of Undead Unluck premiered, airing on Hulu. The series concluded its first season with 24 episodes in March 2024.

Upcoming Special

Fans can look forward to a new one-hour anime special set to debut in Winter 2025, featuring an original story penned by Tozuka himself, alongside a new UMA creature designed for the event.
