A Legendary Announcement
Wizards of the Coast has teased the legendary illustrator Yoshitaka Amano as a likely artist for the upcoming Magic: The Gathering (MTG) x Final Fantasy collaboration set. The company stated,
“We couldn't do MTG x Final Fantasy without going back to the beginning and working with an artist who inspired generations of Final Fantasy fans.”
In addition to this announcement, MTG released a short teaser video featuring Amano showcasing an MTG card.

Card Previews
In tandem with the teaser, IGN previewed four exciting cards from the MTG x Final Fantasy set:
- Terra, Herald of Hope
- Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER
- Tidus, Yuna's Guardian
- Y'shtola, Night's Blessed
These cards will be part of four prebuilt commander decks titled:
- Revival Trance
- Limit Break
- Counter Blitz
- Scions & Spellcraft
The decks will be available in both standard and collector's editions.

Wizards of the Coast initially announced the collaboration between MTG and Final Fantasy in October 2022. A teaser for the collaboration set made its first appearance in October 2024, highlighting card art for Lightning, Army of One, Emet-Selch, Unsundered, and Together Forever. The MTG x Final Fantasy set is set to launch on June 13.
