New Anime Adaptation of Once Upon a Witch's Death

The anticipated anime adaptation of Once Upon a Witch's Death, based on the light novel series by Saka and Chorefuji, has released its second main promotional video and visual. The video notably reveals the ending theme song, "Hana-saku Michi de" (On the Road Where the Flowers Bloom), composed by the renowned Yuki Kajiura and performed by Aoi Teshima.

Synopsis of the Story
The light novel series tells the story of Meg, a young apprentice witch who discovers that she has only one year to live on her seventeenth birthday. Her teacher, the long-lived witch Faust, informs her that to break the death curse, she must gather tears of joy and cultivate the seed of life. This quest leads Meg out of her sheltered existence and into a world filled with friendships, farewells, and vital lessons about life and magic.
"On her seventeenth birthday, the apprentice witch Meg learns that she only has one year left to live. To undo the death curse, she must collect tears of joy and grow the seed of life. There will be meetings, partings, and friendships aplenty, and of course many tears."

Production Team
Directed by Atsushi Nigorikawa at EMT Squared, the adaptation is based on character designs by Chorefuji. The series scripts are overseen by Keiichirō Ōchi, while Maaya Sakamoto performs the opening theme song, "Drops."
Premiere Date
Once Upon a Witch's Death is set to premiere on April 1, airing on several channels including Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, AT-X, and BS11.
Background
The story was originally launched on the Kakuyomu website in October 2019 and concluded in August 2022. Kadokawa is publishing the novels in print, with illustrations by Chorefuji. The third volume is scheduled for release on March 17.
Additionally, a manga adaptation was initiated by Kenu Amearare in March 2023 on the KadoComi website, with the fourth volume set to be released on April 10.
