What's the story about?
Viz Media describes Hirayasumi as a story about a 29-year-old man named Hiroto Ikuta. Despite having no girlfriend, full-time job, or clear plans for the future, Hiroto is perfectly happy with his carefree attitude. In a world filled with anxiety and confusion, he and those around him are simply trying to navigate life.
"At 29 years old, carefree Hiroto Ikuta doesn't have a girlfriend, a full-time job, or a plan for the future—and he couldn't be happier. Hiroto's breezy attitude isn't easy for everyone to understand, though. In a world filled with anxiety, confusion, and grief, Hiroto and the people around him are all just doing their best to figure out this thing called life."
Shinzō's excitement and background
Keigo Shinzō shared his enthusiasm for the adaptations with a heartfelt message and an illustration:
"I'm so happy to hear it's being adapted into an anime and a drama! I'm really looking forward to seeing both shows!"
Shinzō launched the manga in April 2021 in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits. The series has gained significant popularity, with over 1.1 million copies in circulation worldwide. The ninth volume is set to be published on July 30. The manga has received critical recognition, including nominations for the 15th Manga Taisho awards, ranking #18 in Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook, and a nomination for the 27th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.
