Viz Media to Publish Yasuhisa Hara's Record-Setting Manga Kingdom
Viz Media has exciting news for manga fans! Starting November 11, the company will begin publishing Kingdom, the acclaimed series by Yasuhisa Hara. This record-setting manga will also be available on Viz's Shonen Jump service following the release of each volume.

About Kingdom
Kingdom first launched in 2006 in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine. The series follows the journey of Xin, a slave boy with dreams of becoming a great general for the state of Qin. Alongside Ying Zheng, the young Qin king, Xin strives to unify China and rise to power, leading an army capable of defeating the Seven Warring States.
Anime Adaptation
The fifth series of the Kingdom anime is set to premiere on the NHK General channel in January 2024. The first television adaptation debuted in 2012, followed by a second series in 2013. Both series were streamed in North America by Funimation, which also released them on DVD in 2016.
The third anime series premiered in April 2020 but faced a hiatus due to COVID-19. It resumed airing in April 2021. The fourth series aired on NHK General in April 2022, with Crunchyroll streaming it as it aired.
Live-Action Films
The fourth live-action film, Kingdom: Taishogun no Kikan (Return of the General), opened in Japan on July 12. The first live-action film, released in April 2019, grossed approximately 5.73 billion yen (around US$53.2 million). Funimation screened the film at Anime Expo in July 2019 and later in theaters across the United States and Canada.
