Talent agency Haikyō and voice actress Azumi Waki shared an emotional update on Wednesday: her daughter has been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a serious heart muscle disease. This condition causes the left ventricle of the heart to enlarge and weaken, making it difficult for the heart to pump blood effectively.
Thanks to her daughter's doctors, she is currently stabilized with an artificial heart and remains in stable condition. The diagnosis came after her daughter showed symptoms of acute heart failure, which led to her hospitalization. In response, Waki is significantly reducing her workload to focus on her family and her daughter's treatment.
She continues to consult with her medical team and is providing ongoing support. Her family is helping her manage her responsibilities so she can return to work fully in the future. Waki has asked her fans for continued support during this challenging time.
