On Thursday, Netflix unveiled a new stop-motion animation series based on the beloved Sanrio characters My Melody and Kuromi. The show is scheduled to premiere worldwide on July 24.

Story Synopsis
My Melody opens a cake shop in Mariland. After encountering a heart in the forest, strange things start happening around her. Meanwhile, Kuromi's sweets shop across the street remains empty. Both work to prepare for a sweets-making contest judged by the renowned pastry chef Pistachio. However, this contest leads to an unexpected incident that could threaten Mariland itself.

Sanrio first introduced the Onegai My Melody anime in 2005, which led to several sequel series, including

Kuromi's Short Anime
In February 2023, the Kuromi's Pretty Journey short series launched on YouTube and TikTok, with three episodes airing every Friday, totaling 21 episodes. This series became available in English in July 2023. A new series, Kuromi’s Pretty Journey Hachamecha! Multiverse Dasshutsu!, debuted on October 31 with a simultaneous English dub release.
Behind the Scenes
This year marks the 50th anniversary of My Melody and the 20th anniversary of Kuromi.
The story is set in Mariland, where My Melody runs a cake shop and Kuromi owns a Japanese sweets shop. When My Melody finds a mysterious heart in the forest, strange events begin. Both characters team up to prepare for a sweets contest, but their efforts may lead to a big adventure that endangers their world.
Series Producer: Tomoki Misato, known for Pui Pui Molcar, directed the series at TORUKU, a WIT STUDIO branch. Scriptwriting is handled by Shūko Nemoto.
