Bandai Namco Filmworks Announces New Project Based on Classic Anime
Exciting news for anime fans! Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed that it will release "BLUE GALE XABUNGLE SIDE R", an innovative "experimental video" created by Sunrise Robot Laboratory. This project is based on Yoshiyuki Tomino's 1982 anime Blue Gale Xabungle and is set to debut this fall.
A Fresh Take on a Classic
The new video aims to reinterpret the original anime with a mix of old and new footage. It features scenes from various episodes, especially from episodes 12 and 43, along with newly produced visuals that evoke the anime's iconic opening sequence.
Collaboration and Creative Team
- The project is a collaboration between Bandai Namco Filmworks and Kamikaze Douga.
- Junpei Mizusaki, known for directing Batman Ninja, serves as the director, technical director, and creative producer.
- The original narrator, Banjō Ginga, returns to provide new narration for this version.
Previous Experiments
This is not the first "experimental video" from Sunrise Robot Laboratory. The first was "AURA BATTLER DUNBINE SIDE L", which started streaming in May 2024, featuring new footage inspired by the opening and closing sequences of the series.
About Xabungle
HIDIVE has been streaming the classic Xabungle anime since 2017. The story is set on the planet Zora, where two societies—the Innocent and the Civilians—clash. The protagonist, Jiron Amos, seeks revenge but ends up leading a rebellion after stealing the mecha Xabungle and teaming up with bandits called the Sandrats.
- The series was directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino and aired from 1982 to 1983.
- It also inspired the 1983 anime film Xabungle Graffiti.
Summary
This new project promises to bring a fresh perspective to a beloved classic, blending nostalgia with innovative visuals. Fans can look forward to experiencing Blue Gale Xabungle in a whole new way.
