Exciting News for Yakuza Fans: New Releases and Updates Coming Soon!
During the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, <cite class="e company"><a href="/encyclopedia/company.php?id=79">Sega</a></cite> announced the upcoming launch of two highly anticipated games for Nintendo Switch 2: Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Yakuza Kiwami. Both are remakes of the original Yakuza titles, offering fans a fresh way to experience these classic stories.

Bundle: A special package including both games will be available.

Enhanced Graphics: The Switch 2 versions will feature improved visuals over the previous Switch releases.

Background and Past Releases
Yakuza Kiwami was released for Switch last October, with the new version on Switch 2 boasting enhanced graphics.
The original Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku) debuted in Japan for PlayStation 2 in December 2005 and was released in the West as Yakuza in September 2006.
Yakuza Kiwami launched in Japan for PlayStation 3 and 4 in January 2016, then in English for PS4 in August 2017, and for PC via Steam in February 2019.
Yakuza Kiwami 2, a full remake of Yakuza 2, was released in Japan for PS4 in December 2017 and in English in August 2018. It features the new Dragon Engine, additional characters, and new scenarios.
The game also launched on PC and Xbox One in subsequent years.
Other Notable Updates
Yakuza 0: Director's Cut for Switch 2 was released on June 5, featuring new cutscenes, online multiplayer, and an English dub. It also includes support for French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
The latest game in the series, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, launched worldwide on February 21 for multiple platforms, a week earlier than planned.
